Uprising resort

To new accommodation for lunch as we were starving! Fiji time struck again as had to wait an hour for our food!

Tropical thunder showers in the afternoon so spent the afternoon cleaning our boots and catching up on the blog. Nice room though - a little house with outside shower - cool!

Boat through the mangroves

Came out to a boat which took us back out through the mangroves.

Virgin forest all around with birds everywhere. Ended up on the beach and packed our soaking mud encrusted shoes into the boot of the van. Fun way to end the trip!

Waterfall swimming

Came out to a great waterfall. Doesn't look much in the photo but it went up several levels. We swam over the pool and then climbed up to the top. We swam jumped in from the rocks. I was too chicken to jump from the top but Brian did! Excellent fun! Nothing would stop our guide from hurling himself off the top in all manner of ways for our entertainment. Really cool place.

Climbed down through the waterfall after and jumped in the pool again to get back. Luckily it is possible to swim with heavy hiking boots on - just not very well!

One of our group lost his shoe and had to walk back through the mud in his socks. This is the same guy who has an irrational terror of frogs. Think he probably booked the wrong holiday!

Rain forest trekking

Trekking in the rain forest today! Our boots came in handy as the way was muddy to say the least! Quite an experience all in all as we ended up wading through rivers, climbing over rocks and tramping through swampy grasslands! Not what we were expecting but fun nonetheless.

Entertainment

Ate as a group - had a laugh chatting to everyone and then came the evenings entertainment: it's Polenesian night! Off to a dodgy start as the CD kept skipping but the knife dancing and fire dancing at the end was actually pretty impressive. Partied the rest of the evening away with the others - a fun night!

Kava Ceremoney

At 6 we were summoned by the banging of logs to drink kava - a local brew made from the root of a plant which makes your tongue go numb. Tasted like mud though but the locals love it!

Mango Bay

Arrived at our accommodation for the night - really nice place :) spent an hour soaking in the pool to wash off the sand. Really chilled now :-D
